WHO WE ARE
EAA Tools Inc. was established in 2011 for the purpose of creating innovative special tools with customer focus. All EAA Tools solutions are engineered to provide superior performance, ease-of-use, durability, dependability, effectiveness and efficiency. EAA Tools is Warfighter-focused; it has prioritized the experience of the end user and the needs of the unit over all other considerations.
EAA Tools solutions are more effective than alternative solutions. Many legacy tools, provided by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) at the H-60’s original fielding, are in dire need of updates incorporating lessons learned based on over 40 years of use. Many aftermarket tools available on the market today were developed without sufficient user feedback and testing lacking standardized engineering. Their use creates safety or force readiness risks. Also for many operations, no standard special purpose tool exists at all, leaving units to improvise solutions of varying effectiveness. EAA Tools provides solutions for each of these issues. Our tools are designed and engineered to ensure the maintenance task is performed correctly while protecting the operator and aircraft from damage.
Comprehensive Background:
EAA Tools’ first products, launched in 2011, were the Main Sump Transmission Chip Detector Removal Tool (P/N: CDR-60-AA) and the Main Rotor Hub Spindle Puller (P/N: SP-60-AA). These two tools were designed specifically to resolve two critical and chronic maintenance issues persisting on the H-60/S-70 platforms.
The CDR tool was invented to provide a solution that would prevent damage to the Main Module Chip Detector and Transmission Sump components due to the use of improper tools (usually channel-lock pliers) during chip detector removal. The product allows for no-spill, no-damage, one-handed operation and can be stored in the aircraft for use any time a chip light occurs. In the meantime, maintainers without access to the CDR tool will continue to spill transmission fluid, damage chip detectors, or, in extreme circumstances, damage the transmission.
The Spindle Puller was invented to provide a tool that would prevent damage to the Main Rotor Hub due to the use of improper tools (usually a wood 2x4 and mallet or slide-hammers) during Spindle Removal task. The product allows for a smooth, high-force, always-aligned, safe pull that will never take more than 3 minutes. In the meantime, maintainers without access to the EAA solution will continue to struggle with stuck spindles, occasionally damaging hub liners, pitch horns, spindle lugs, or in extreme circumstances, dropping the spindle from the top of the aircraft.
Demand on the open market for the two initial products inspired EAA to examine, design, and build other critical tools with similar impact and scope. The initial strategy—to convince US Army Aviation to field the products fleet-wide—took a back seat as more and more MRO operations discovered EAA Tools’ products and asked for additional solutions and kitted configurations. In 2019, EAA Tools expanded its operation to a large industrial space and sells its comprehensive kits to customers worldwide.
Future Goals:

ED ELSNER
President and Founder
Ed Elsner, a combat Army Aviation veteran, has 25+ years of experience supporting DoD and commercial rotorcraft customers with initial purchases and support packages. Mr. Elsner has gleaned information from fellow maintainers to produce the best output for tooling solutions.
In 2011, he created EAA Tools to develop and market the Chip Detector Removal Tool, a hit product that launched the company. In addition to his leadership role, Mr. Elsner manages sales and customer relations for EAA.
His message to Fellow Soldiers, Warfighters, Maintainers, End-Users and Operators:
EAA Tools was solely created to provide you a full line-up of unique H-60 Platform Special Hand Tools you have always hoped for, but have not been provided. We do not use the old OEM mentality of limited tooling support that you have to resolve. We provide tooling solutions from Real & Actual soldier needs, each with its own logical maintenance rationale to resolve a chronic maintenance issue, as defined by you.
After listening to you and gleaning from you extensive maintenance experiences on the H-60, we offer you an array of downselected, best practices tool solutions. All have been meticulously designed and engineered, tested for precise form, fit and function. Our tools have been vetted by customer end-users (D-Co, AMXS, & MRO’s alike) and approved by US Army Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD), so that you get the most durable, effective, efficient and applicable maintenance solution without any fluff or added footprint. Some of the tools have been invented, some of them re-designed and perfected. In the end, you are getting what you specifically need to accomplish your unique task and mission.
We are honored to be able to directly support. And we will continue to do so.
Very Respectfully,
Ed Elsner
President
